Virtual Series Launch on NOVEMBER 5, 2020 • 1:00 - 2:30 PM MDT

CU’s Graduate Real Estate Association (GREA) presents the first in 3-part series facilitating an unbiased academic discussion of the reality of the past, present and future state of the commercial real estate industry and racial and social equity. Bringing together academics, political stakeholders, industry experts and social advocates to discuss the heritage, current trends and future goals of the CRE industry and inclusion. Our learning objectives are to educate and facilitate a meaningful conversation that connects different stakeholders to highlight the complexities of this pressing issue.

PART 1: PAST on NOVEMBER 5  
Albus Brooks (CU Buff, former Denver City Councilman, CU Real Estate Board Member and industry leader with Milender White) will facilitate an educational Zoom session outlining the history of real estate related policies and their impacts on areas across the United States and Denver. Digging into the facts and specifically looking at how the impacts of zoning and banking laws impacted the ability of minority families to accumulate wealth in the United States while simultaneously creating a series of negative social externalities.

PART 2: PRESENT Coming in December 2020 or January 2021

Professors, politicians, advocates & industry stakeholders discuss the current state of CRE and Social Equity. “Where the rubber hits the road”. What is the current state of CRE and diversity? Industry stakeholders will lead discussions and help to facilitate meaningful conversations about what is currently being seen in the industry surrounding diversity, social equity and inclusion.

PART 3: FUTURE Coming in February or March 2021
A roundtable discussion between professors, politicians, advocates and industry stakeholders discussing the major issues that will continue to confront the CRE industry. How can real estate professionals influence the future state of social equity and the industry? What are the Challenges? How do you balance attention to the bottom line and other stakeholders? What opportunities are presented by bringing together industry thought-leaders, stakeholders, advocates? How do we define success?
