Denver NWSL Breaks Records and Reveals Plans for First-Ever Women’s Pro Soccer Stadium in Colorado

Submitted by Matthew Breest, Populous

Populous shared recent media coverage highlighting exciting progress in professional women’s sports infrastructure. Populous is leading the stadium design for Denver’s National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) expansion team, which has already made headlines with record-breaking community support and bold development plans.

In just two months, the Denver NWSL club has received over 10,000 season ticket deposits, setting a new NWSL record and demonstrating overwhelming enthusiasm for women’s professional sports across Colorado.

The club plans to open a 14,500-seat, purpose-built stadium and entertainment district—known as Santa Fe Yards—in Denver’s urban core by 2028. This will be the first sports and entertainment district in Colorado dedicated to professional women’s athletics. Plans also include a world-class training facility and a 12,000-seat temporary stadium in Centennial, to host games during the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

Stay tuned as details emerge around a broader mixed-use district tied to the Santa Fe Yards vision.
