Rocky Mountain Real Estate Challenge
May 5, 2010
5:00 to 8:00 pm
Marriott City Center
Colorado Ballroom

Early Bird Deadline has been extended to April 29th for individual tickets only!

The Challenge

You are the principal of a real estate development firm. You have been hired to evaluate and make recommendations for the redevelopment of a prominent piece of property in the Denver Metro area. Your firm has four months to analyze the property and create a development vision and implementation strategy. Use your knowledge of the real estate process and that of your peers to flush out the opportunities, constraints, strengths and weaknesses of the property to create an award-winning project that will grant you the title of RMREC Champion!

The 2010 Project! This year, the City and County of Denver (CCD) and the Regional Transportation District (RTD) teamed to bring the RMREC its first Public/Private Partnership Brownfield redevelopment project to the students. The Coliseum at River North project includes approximately 45 acres with multiple ownerships in Denver, Colorado. The Property includes the Denver Coliseum building, a large parking lot, Globeville Landing Park, and a Union Pacific owned parcel. The Property is bound by I-70 on the North, 44th St. to the east, McFarland Dr/Arkins Court to the south (diagonally from I-70 to the river), and the river to the west.

Students are presented not only with traditional development challenges, but also environmental restrictions on land use and construction, access and circulation challenges, and the task of revitalizing one of Denver's oldest entertainment venues. All of which must be addressed with the ultimate goal of stimulating the north Denver neighborhoods and creating a vibrant urban entertainment district.

Join us for dinner and see the University of Denver and University of Colorado students battle it out to see who will prevail in this intense competition of research, financial analysis, problem solving, presentation development, judges' questions and oral delivery before hundreds of commercial real estate professionals.
