Day at the Capitol

Join the International Council of Shopping Centers and NAIOP Colorado for a Day at the Capitol! Be there to watch the Legislative process and learn how the decisions made under the Gold Dome affect your future, as well as the future of your career and business.  More importantly, be there to make sure your voice is heard!

We’ve invited Governor Hickenlooper, State Attorney General John Suthers, Executive Director of the Office of Economic Development & International Trade Ken Lund, Leadership from the House and Senate, Legislative Committee Chairs and various Legislators to join us for this half day event.  We have also invited Henry Sobanet from the Governor’s Office.

You will get the opportunity to experience the Senate and House chambers first hand!   Also, you will be guided through “Legislation 101” - a quick look at how the legislative process works, led by our lobbying team Micki Hackenberger and Erin Goff of Axiom Strategies.  Then we will discuss the important issues that have risen for discussion this year including the Landlord/Tenant Bill, Enterprise Zoning Bills, Tax Increment Financing transparency and much more.

Depending on the committee calendar, we could provide the opportunity for you to sit in and observe the committees at work.

New this year will be the opportunity to schedule one on one meetings with your elected official.  There is a place on the registration form for you to indicate if you are interested in this opportunity.  If yes, provide us with your home zip code and we can help arrange these meetings.

It was said by Pericles that

doesn’t mean that politics won’t take an interest in you.”  (430 BC)
